Registered Nurse (NMBA) NDIS Specialist 5+ Years Complex Care Mawson Lakes SA

Usha Gurung founded Nurse Aid Australia after recognising a gap in the SA disability sector: providers willing to take on complex participants, but without the clinical systems to keep them safe. As a registered nurse, she built NurseAid from the ground up with governance frameworks first — not as an afterthought. She leads clinical governance across all four service lines and remains the primary clinical point of contact for complex referrals.

Purpose

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission
To deliver NDIS support that blends clinical excellence with the warmth of family.
Empowering every participant to live with independence, dignity, and choice today — not as a future aspiration, but as the standard every shift is held to.
Our Vision
An inclusive Australia where disability support is a pathway to freedom.
Not just a service — a support system. Where every interaction feels less like a medical appointment and more like a visit from a trusted friend who also happens to be clinically capable.
Our Values

What We Stand For

Six values that govern how we show up — for participants, families, referrers, and each other.

🏥
Clinical Excellence
We do not compromise on clinical governance. Every protocol is documented, every high intensity support is supervised, every incident is reviewed. Clinical quality is not a selling point — it is the floor.
❤️
Family-First Warmth
We treat every participant like a family member. Using language that is kind, welcoming, and never clinical for its own sake. The human element lifts the participant — it does not treat them.
💪
Empowerment
We focus on ability, not disability. We provide the tools for participants to take control — not create dependency. Every care plan has independence as a goal, not just stability.
🤝
Genuine Partnership
We are real people. We avoid corporate jargon and cold clinical language. We sit down with participants, families, and referring teams — and we listen before we act.
🔒
Accountability
We own our outcomes. Incidents are documented and debriefed. Reports go out as standard, not on request. When something goes wrong, we say so and we fix it.
🌏
Inclusion
We support participants from all backgrounds — cultural, linguistic, and community diversity. We match support workers thoughtfully and we respect every participant's identity and preferences.
Our Story

How We Got Here

Nurse Aid Australia started with a simple observation: the NDIS sector had providers, but not enough partners.

🌱
The Beginning
A gap in the SA disability sector
Usha Gurung, working as a registered nurse in South Australia, saw providers willing to accept complex participants — but without the clinical infrastructure to support them safely. She began building what she wished existed.
🏗️
Foundation
Governance frameworks first
Nurse Aid Australia was founded with clinical governance as the starting point — not a compliance exercise added later. Protocols for forensic transitions, medication management, and high intensity supports were written before the first participant was admitted.
📋
NDIS Registration
Registered for high intensity SIL
Achieved NDIS registration including Module 1 (High Intensity Daily Personal Activities) certification. Third-party audited against NDIS Practice Standards. Began accepting forensic and complex physical referrals from South Australian hospitals and OPG.
🤝
Growing
Building referral relationships across SA
Established working relationships with FMHS discharge teams, OPG case managers, and hospital social workers across greater Adelaide. Expanded service areas to include high-intensity mental health and in-home community nursing.
🎯
Today
SA's clinical SIL specialist
Nurse Aid Australia continues to operate as one of the few NDIS SIL providers in South Australia with a documented forensic readiness framework, Module 1 high intensity capability, and RN-led clinical governance across all four service lines — based in Mawson Lakes SA 5095.
Message from Our Founder
"The NDIS sector was full of providers, but it lacked partners. We started Nurse Aid Australia because we believed that people with the most complex needs deserve the most capable support — and that clinical excellence and genuine warmth are not opposites. They are the same thing done properly."
