1Our Commitment

Nurse Aid Australia is committed to digital inclusion. We believe that people with disability — who are the people we exist to support — should be able to access information about our services without barriers.

We aim to make this website accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard and broadly adopted as best practice for web accessibility in Australia.

As an NDIS provider, we are also guided by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), which prohibits discrimination in the provision of goods, services, and facilities — including digital services — on the basis of disability.

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time exercise. We review and improve our website accessibility on a regular basis.

2WCAG Conformance

We aim to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the four core accessibility principles:

Principle 1
Perceivable
Information and UI components are presented in ways all users can perceive — including through screen readers and alternative text on images.
Principle 2
Operable
All functionality is accessible via keyboard. Navigation is consistent and users can control timing of any moving content.
Principle 3
Understandable
Content is written in plain English where possible. Page language is declared. Forms include clear labels and error messages.
Principle 4
Robust
Content is built to work with current and future assistive technologies, including screen readers and voice control software.

This is a self-assessment. We have not yet undergone a formal third-party WCAG audit. If you identify an accessibility issue, please tell us — it helps us improve.

3Website Accessibility Features

This website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML structure — headings, lists, and landmark elements are used correctly so screen readers can navigate the page efficiently
  • Keyboard navigability — all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, dropdowns) can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone
  • Colour contrast — text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Focus indicators — visible focus outlines are maintained for keyboard users
  • Alternative text — images include descriptive alt text for screen reader users
  • Form labels — all form fields have associated labels; required fields are clearly identified
  • Language declaration — the page language is declared as English (lang="en") in the HTML
  • Responsive design — the website adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • No auto-playing media — there is no auto-playing audio or video on this website
  • Plain English content — service descriptions are written in clear, plain language as a core brand principle
4Known Limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations on this website and are working to address them:

  • PDF documents — any PDF documents linked from this website may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. Where this is the case, please contact us and we will provide the content in an accessible alternative format.
  • Google Maps embed — the embedded map on the Contact page may not be fully accessible to all users. The map's content (address and location) is also provided in plain text on the same page.
  • Third-party content — content or tools embedded from third-party providers (such as form submission tools) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We aim to select accessible third-party tools where available.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please let us know. We take all reports seriously.

5Alternative Formats

If you need any content from this website in an alternative format, we will provide it at no charge. Alternative formats we can provide include:

  • Large print documents
  • Plain text versions of web pages
  • Easy Read versions of key service information (on request — please allow additional preparation time)

6Accessible Service Delivery

Accessibility does not stop at the website. As an NDIS provider, we are committed to ensuring that our services are accessible to all participants, including those with communication, sensory, cognitive, or physical disabilities.

In practice this means:

  • Service agreements and care plans are provided in formats appropriate to the participant's communication needs and literacy level — including Easy Read or verbal explanation where required
  • Support workers are briefed on each participant's communication preferences before their first shift
  • Participants are supported to exercise their rights under the NDIS, including the right to make complaints, request information, and make decisions about their own support
  • We work with interpreters and cultural liaisons where English is not a participant's first language
  • Our physical office at Mawson Lakes is accessible — contact us to confirm specific access requirements before visiting
  • Participants who require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or support are accommodated in all communications with Nurse Aid Australia

If you have a specific access need when dealing with Nurse Aid Australia — whether for a participant, a family member, or in your role as a referrer or support coordinator — please tell us and we will accommodate it.
